We head for the Cajon del Maipo walking the G27 route until we reach the Maipo river. Here we will see some villages of the San Jose de Maipo community while passing by the geo-site San Alfonso where we will be able to understand the landscape and part of the mountain formation. We continue our trip going to Las Melosas, an interesting and beautiful formation of old volcanic activity of the region. After a while we will reach the beautiful waterfall known as ” the bride’s veil”. Then we will encounter the Baños Morales sector, where you can see the interesting Colimapu formation and the palaeontological sector Lo Valdés. We end our beautiful and amazing journey with a 45-minute walk towards the La Engorda valley, where the landscape turns into a beautiful postcard of the San José volcano. We go back the same way we came.

•Location and season
The trip passes along the route of the famous Cajon del Maipo. We reach the highest point (2.700 Mt approx.) of our trajectory after the La Engorda valley. We go back the same way we came.
This trip can be done all year long. However, we could have some restriction in the La Engorda valley, due to some snowfall in certain sectors.

The participants, together with our guides, will get to know the geological heritage of Cajon del Maipo. You will walk through the valleys, and aside of meeting its tributary, volcanoes and glaciers, you will learn a lot about the communal and regional history of the place.
