Mirador Marmolejo

A unique viewpoint located on Mount Marmolejo, the southernmost “six-thousander” in the world.

Excursion

Mirador Marmolejo

From Hotel Las Majadas, we head along Route G-25 toward El Yeso Reservoir, passing through towns such as San Alfonso, El Ingenio, and San Gabriel until reaching the gravel road that leads to the El Romeral area. There, our route begins toward Valle El Yeso Park, where we start a 6 km trek to one of the viewpoints on Mount Marmolejo, the southernmost “six-thousander” in the world (6,109 meters above sea level).

The trail offers impressive views of the Andes, high-altitude meadows, and the crossing of the Yeso stream, before ascending to 3,200 meters above sea level. After enjoying the viewpoint, we return along the same route, taking in the El Yeso Valley and surrounding nature during approximately three hours of hiking.

This excursion takes place in El Yeso Park and is available from October until the arrival of the first snowfalls, which close vehicular access.
